The experience in the coffee and rubber plantation was fascinating and made more interesting by watching the team at work. I decided on this tour of this plantation after staying at Tugu hotel Malang and then heading forward to Tugu hotel Blitar. My first time in the enchanting forest of Java. John the guide and all the team made the visit to the plantation fun, memorable, experience. From witwessing the growth of the coffee plants in the nurseries to fully grown flowering bushes is a joy to see along with the rubber, clouds, jackfruit, durian, guava trees. Sampling the local dishes was a unique taste prepared lovingly by the local resident cook. I will come back again I next stay at hotel Tugu the only hotels I recommend whole heartedly!! |

Today we made an excellent trip from the Tugu Malang hotel to the Tugu – owned coffee plantation was Blitar. It was really exciting, beautiful weather, supreme guidance, breakfast, 4 wheel drive tour through the plantation with explanations on the treatment of coffee plants, the processing of the coffee beans in the factory and a bunch ui tea lodge. Tugu is what it says! It is really of a very high standard and we recommend the hotels to everyone we will meet. Thanks a lot and we will talk about it a long time. The graciousness of the renowned Tugu hotel group can be felt the moment I enter the Kawi Sari coffee villa plantation at Blitar. Pak Agus, pak Sariono, ibu Santi, and pak Ajib are well trained, and very patient and understanding. The eco coffee plantation tour, and coffee processing are excellent. Had a memorable experience under the guidance at pak Agus & pak Dodik. The coffee tour has broaden our insights on coffee cultivation process starting from bean selection, roasting, and even the storage. Besides coffee, we also had the opportunity to visit the rubber plantation and rubber harvesting, another memorable esperience! Afterwards, we were served freshly brewed traditional Robusta coffee, we’d love to recommend this experience to friends and acquitances. |

Great experience (10 out of 10)! We enjoyed learning the precess of making coffee – from small plants to resto beans to roasting – and drinking it afrerwards. We got much more information regarding rubber production and so many other things like about lemon grass. It was great to meet the people who do the hardwork every day and to give it little try on her own, which was quite funny. The jeep tour was also fun and we feel safe all the way. Also we have to recommend all of the food and drinks highly. Everytime was so nice and helpful us. We will never forget our great tour with you. |

We have never been on an eco tour before, and liked …. to learned about coffee and rubber are brown and manufactured. The balance of agriculture, manufacturing and hisanry all are here, and we feel that we learned about all of it. It was provided in a very luxurious way. We really had a great time here, visiting the coffee plantation, seeing the coffee trees, the factory, all the way to the forest and the best ones including the roasting, yes, roasting the coffee beans by mas No (Bapak No), fresh!! What a wonderful hidden gem! Our visit has been must memorable and really enjoyable. That rubber and coffee is grown & produced on the same plantation was new to us both. THE KAWISARI CLOVE CLASS
Selain pohon kopi robusta dan arabika, 550 hektar kebun Kawisari juga memiliki 3.800 pohon cengkeh.
Pada awal 200 SM, rombongan dari Jawa menuju ke sebuah istana dinasti Han Cina dengan menyimpan cengkeh di dalam mulut mereka untuk mengharumkan napas selama pertemuan dengan sang kaisar. Selama akhir abad pertengahan, cengkeh digunakan di Eropa untuk mengawetkan, membumbui, dan menghias makanan. Budidaya cengkeh pada saat itu hampir sangat terbatas di Indonesia, dan pada awal abad ke-17 Belanda membasmi cengkeh di seluruh pulau kecuali Amboina dan Ternate untuk menciptakan kelangkaan dan mempertahankan harga tinggi. Pada paruh kedua abad ke-18, Prancis menyelundupkan cengkeh dari Hindia Timur ke pulau-pulau Samudra Hindia dan New World dan berhasil mematahkan monopoli Belanda.
Indonesia kini menjadi produsen cengkeh terbesar di dunia, diikuti oleh Madagaskar, Tanzania, dan Sri Lanka.

THE KAWISARI RUBBER CLASS
Jawa Timur merupakan produsen karet terbesar ke-3 di Indonesia.
Pada tahun 1864 tanaman karet pertama kali diperkenalkan di Indonesia pada masa penjajahan Belanda. Awalnya, karet ditanam di Kebun Raya Bogor sebagai tanaman koleksi dan kemudian dikembangkan ke beberapa daerah di Indonesia sebagai tanaman komersial. Saat itu, pemerintah Belanda mengembangkan karet karena kopi dan tembakau yang menjadi pasar andalan mereka sedang menurun.
Pemerintah Belanda mengundang investor dari negara lain untuk mengembangkan industri karet di Hindia Belanda. Perusahaan asing pertama yang menanam karet dan mengelolanya secara komersial di Indonesia adalah Harrison and Crossfield Company yang membuka pasar perkebunan karet di Malaysia. Setelah itu, diikuti oleh perusahaan lain, seperti Sociente Financiere des Caoutchous dari Belgia pada tahun 1909, dan perusahaan gabungan antara Belanda dan Amerika Serikat, Holland Amerikaanse Plantage Maatschappij pada tahun 1910-1911. Belanda memberikan dukungan penuh kepada investor asing untuk mengembangkan industri karet di Indonesia. Mereka memfasilitasi proses pembukaan lahan, penyediaan tenaga kerja, infrastruktur, teknologi pengolahan dan pemasaran. Konsesi sewa tanah dalam perjanjian jangka panjang hanya dikenakan pajak sebesar 1-2% dari biaya pembukaan lahan dan tenaga kerja dibayar sangat rendah.
Kini, Perkebunan Kawisari mendedikasikan 130 hektar lahannya untuk 62.100 pohon karet, menghasilkan 10 -15 ton karet per tahun.
